Singleness: Wait, Don’t Settle ~

Have you ever heard, ‘NEVER settle for less than what the Lord has’? Have you really considered the implications of following this advice? Why not settle? Let’s address this in context of singleness, so in other words, waiting for “THE one” God has.
‘God’s best’ or ‘what the Lord has’ are synonymous, and we’d be wise to wait for such. God is omniscient (all-knowing); therefore, He knows what is best for us. God loves us; we’ve mentioned He will not withhold anything good from us; He wants to give us the very best. These are just two reasons, but if we know the His character then we know His knowledge and understanding far surpass ours, and His heart for us is beyond anything we could comprehend, so why settle?
Seriously, why do we settle? It comes down to pride and deception (which circles back to pride). Probably more than we’d like to admit we think we know better than God. Few would come out directly and say it, but our pride is evident through words, actions, and poor choices. And then there’s our enemy, a cunning liar and deceiver, often challenging us with the idea that God is holding out on us, forgotten us, or simply must not love us (well, not as much as her).
God is good no matter how we feel! God is good no matter our circumstances! And God always works everything (even the painful stuff) for the good of His followers.
Settling for less than God’s best inevitably means we hurt ourselves. And though He will forgive us when we repent and use it for good, why settle? I know, waiting is hard, BUT it’s not impossible. I know the season may feel long, BUT nothing lasts forever!
Wherever you are today, whether you have a past filled with regret and hurt or one of purity, you have a choice. God’s best for you is beyond anything you could dream, imagine, or even pray for, because He far exceeds even our prayers. Commit from this day on to not settle for less than His very best, to wait patiently and expectantly, and to know that when you “delight yourself also in the Lord, He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
God bless you! <3
