Singleness: God is Enough ~

“The unmarried woman cares about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit,” 1 Corinthians 7:34b.

Frankly, I don’t know where you are in life, and I don’t presume to understand your story. But I do know loneliness is a real struggle and hopelessness can hit hard. However, the best way to accept and follow God’s will during singleness (or any time in life) is to acknowledge and live according to this truth: God is ALL you need.

The enemy desires to distract and discourage us in all seasons of life, and he often uses our seeming lack to derail us. When we dwell on what we don’t have, we lose sight of all the blessings we have. When we focus on marriage, we show a lack of contentment and that hinders spiritual growth. We must standfast in the truth, in the Word, and in who we are in Christ. Marriage should never be the highest goal of life; honoring God should be!

It’s time to embrace this season instead of wishing it away. It is time to see purpose even in something that can be so painful. It’s time to stop comparing ourselves to single or married people, to stop fixating on what we don’t have or what they have and commit everything we are to Christ; God is ALL you need.

Paul states that in his singleness he was able to devote his FULL attention, heart, mind, and soul to Christ. However, he admonished that once you marry your walk with God would be different because you are devoted to another. (Note: This does not mean marriage is bad; God instituted it in Genesis, and He blesses and honors it. This is merely Paul’s observation.)

Consider this wisdom from Leslie Ludy, author of When God Writes Your Love Story, “If God is preparing you to make an impact on this world for His kingdom, chances are He will take you through a season of solitude. This is a season when you learn that you can’t lean upon anyone but Him for your confidence and when you gain the strength to stand alone even when no one else stands with you.”

Singleness can be a beautiful and rich season when we realize the true blessings in it.

     God bless you! <3
