I think it fitting to conclude our series on fear with practical steps to live fearlessly.
1. PRAY: Praying is vital in our relationship with God. Prayer itself is a declaration of our need for Him, and through prayer we grow dependent on Him. So, when fear looms, anxieties peak, and we wrestle with believing destructive lies, the Bible commands us to pray. Philippians 4:6-7, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
2. TRUST IN THE POWER OF OUR LORD: Fear tends to be magnified in our minds, but when we remember the greatness and power of our Lord our fears will shrink. When we consciously choose to trust Him, He fills us with His peace and confidence. The safest and most trustworthy place we can be is in His hands. Psalm 27:1, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 56:3-4, “Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His word), in God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?”
3. WORSHIP: Worship is another powerful tool we must use to combat fear and the enemy. In worship we declare truth over lies. And, through worship we draw near to God, which then causes the enemy to flee. Satan and the demons hate the name of Jesus, so when people are praising Jesus, they will eventually retreat. Psalm 104:33, “I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.”
4. SEEK ACCOUNTABILITY: The enemy wants you to feel alone and weak, but when you bring others into your circle you will discover that is another lie and so FAR from truth. So, ask brothers and sisters in the Lord to walk alongside you as you stand up to your fears, and when you do struggle, they can lift you up. Ecclesiastes 4:9a,10, “Two are better than one…For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up.”
God bless you! <3
