(Encouraged reading: Esther 10)

v. 1-19 The Conclusion of It All

The book of Esther ends with a brief summary of King Ahasuerus and Mordecai after Purim. King Ahasuerus imposed tribute (a tax imposed by a king on his subjects)* on all his provinces, and the author says more can be read about him in the Chronicles of the Kings of Media and Persia. Mordecai continued as Ahasuerus’s second in command and grew in greatness in the eyes of his people, the Jews. Mordecai never forget his humble beginnings, though he was now the king’s closest advisor; he continually sought the best for others.

Application:

Seek God’s favor in every situation. Be ready to act when God calls you; He has so many big and beautiful callings for you.

Recap of Esther:

We have now made it to the end of our time studying Esther together. I pray this kindled a fire for God’s Word and favor in your life! I hope we all take away one or more things from this book. Remember, unlike Haman, to not let pride get in the way; remember God blesses and bestows favor on the humble. Even when we receive the Lord’s favor, we must responsibly live out our God-given roles. Like Esther we must remember to have both wisdom and patience in every situation. We must commit to faithfully use our positions, resources, power, and gifts to fulfill God’s will. And like Mordecai we should advocate for God’s people and stand for righteousness; we need to be willing to come alongside and help those God leads us to.

Prayer:

Lord, I pray as You bestow Your favor on us that we would ask for our eyes to be open to those who are being ill-treated. Give us Your eyes and help us to find the people You want us to reach. Just because we have received the blessing of Your favor in _____ situation does not mean our job is done. Help us never to forget that.

I’ll be posting what our next mini-Bible study series is this coming Sunday! Make sure to check it out!
