(Encouraged reading: Proverbs 16)

v. 1-3, 7, 9, 25, 33 Preparations

It’s part of human nature to dream, plan, and prepare for things. But, in our preparation we can be set in our own way and unwilling to accept what God may have for us. When we believe what we want for ourselves is better than what God has for us, we forget God only has our best interest in mind. God exists outside of time; He sees and knows all, so when He tells us to go a certain way it would be wise to trust Him. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

v. 4-6, 8, 10-24, 26-32 Righteous Action

God has a standard for how the righteous are to act, how to live in this world. The righteous are to depart from evil, heed wise words, trust the Lord, be slow to anger, and have self-control. To do these things is to honor God and to find His favor.

Application:

In both times of preparation and action we must align ourselves with God’s will and standards. The wicked does things according to his will and heart’s desire, but a righteous person submits him/herself to the Highest Authority, who only desires the best for us. Ask yourself, do I seek God when choices are presented or things need to be done? Am I planning or doing anything outside of God’s will?

Prayer:

Lord, sometimes we forget to seek You because we think we can make the right decision on our own, but the truth is the only right decision is the one You are calling us to. Help us to be sensitive to laying plans and courses of action at Your feet and then obeying Your lead.
